Pythor P. Chumsworth (2015) March 25th, 2023
Kicking off The Council of the Crystal King series we have the snake king himself, Pythor! This minifigure appeared exclusively in 70750 NInja DB X (Destiny’s Bounty Xpress) for the Ninjago Tournament of Elements sub-theme of winter 2015. This variant of Pythor was the first version of him in white and thus introduced two new recolors for the head and tail elements. Pythor in the Ninjago TV Series is a prominent, reoccurring villain. He first appeared over a decade ago for 2012, The Rise of the Snakes.
A Surprise Return
This minifigure represents his post-Devourer design that made its true first appearance in the Rebooted installment for the Ninjago TV Series. However, to fit in with the cultist theming of this wave an additional garment was added. The leather harness didn’t appear until Episode 44 The Corridor of Elders. Then, most recently, in Crystalized.
Simpler yet still recognizable
This is essentially an inverse and bleached version of the original minifigure that appeared in 9449 Ultra Sonic Raider of 2012. The gold detailing that was prominently featured was removed in favor of a more simplified scale design. Sadly, it still does retain the original open-mouth head sculpt. A design feature that makes it difficult to properly display this minifigure.
